Unlike the WS2812B RGB LED strip, the APA102 RGB LED strip has 2 lines for sending data – a clock pin and a data pin. This means you need two pins, not one, to control the strip. Since the clock and data are separate, you can use any processor speed or type to control these strips. You can use any microcontroller or microprocessor, including Arduino, Raspberry Pi, BeagleBone, Propeller, SparkCore, and any “native” microcontroller/microprocessor to control the strips. Porting the library is easy, and you can send data to the pixels at clock rates up to 32MHz!

Precautions

• Using voltage DC5V, higher than 5V will destroy it.
• If you need better-led strip performance, you can use an Android/IOS Bluetooth controller SP105E&SP110E, music controller CSY08&SP107E, WiFi controller SP108E, Alexa controller SP501E, or a programmable controller K-1000C. It also works with the Amazon Alexa controller.
• It is better to add DC5V voltage every 3.3FT because the LEDs at the far end of the strip might be dimmer due to the added resistance and voltage drop that occurs as the current flows to that end of the strip.
• The LED strip is made by 50cm FPCB, so there is a solder point each 50cm(1.6FT) on the strip. But this minor flaw has no bad effect on the strip’s performance. In fact, ALL the LED strips on the market are manufactured in half-meter lengths.
